Johnson Rag

Here is  Miller's version of Johnson Rag, transcribed from the original Bill Finegan chart with all of the solos )(both Tenors, Trombone 1 & Trumpet 2) written out. This tune features many of Miller's trademarks, such as the steady build & overlayering of sections to increase the depth of sound & to establish the tune firmly in the mind, plenty of Trumpet plunger figures, sudden changes of dynamics & rich ensemble scoring. The brass ranges are generally moderate, though the Trombnone solo does hit a high Db. We have scored this solo onto the 4th Trumpet part. There are no Sax doubles.
